Social Enterprise Week
March 3-8, 2008
Social Enterprise Week brought together best practices from the nonprofit, private, and public sectors that work toward the common good across industries and around the globe. Pepperdine MBA student clubs at the Graziadio School of Business and Management hosted speakers and panelists with a wealth of knowledge and experience in innovative, cross-industry approaches to addressing social issues.

Students had an opportunities to learn from experts, network, and explore a wide variety of career opportunities, beginning with the Ninth Annual Magill Symposium and concluding with the annual Business Plan Competition. Activities were held on the Malibu Drescher Graduate Campus and West Los Angeles Graduate Campus.

During our one-day Thanksgiving event, 72 cans of food, one box of cereal, one box of cake mix were gathered on the Drescher Graduate Campus. All food was distributed to familes in East Los Angeles. Thank you!

WIRED LivingHome Tour

Brentwood, CA

12 MBA students from Net Impact and TechM toured the WIRED LivingHome in Brentwood, a unique marvel of green technology designed by renowned architect Ray Kappe, FAIA. This LEED certified $4M home is prefabricated to reduce its construction footprint and features appliances and systems to kepp the residents' daily foot print low. Also, some lucky students were escorted to the home in BMW Hydrogen 7-series car.

Social Entrepreneurship: A Guided Discussion
in partnership with Entrepreneurship Club

MBA and law students joined in an evening of lively conversation filled with advice, inspiration, and guidance during the first Social Entrepreneurship Discussion of the year, which was cohosted by the Pepp Entrep. club. Speakers included the founder of Earth Friendly Moving, founder of the Lili Clare Foundation, and founder of Eco Umbrella.

Net Impact -LA Mixer
November 15, 2007
To ride the Net Impact buzz after the conference, Pepperdine, UCLA, and USC coordinated an LA area mixer. Nearly forty members attended to mingle, mix, and share ideas with other area NI chapters. Showing how strong the SoCal network has become!

Net Impact Annual Conference - Nashville, TN
November 1-3, 2007
Pepperdine was represented by 10 students and one professor in Nashville, TN for this year's conference. The event was crawling with influential people full of bright ideas. Keynote speaker Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia, freely spoke on the future of the environment and maintaining a competitive compnay where employees are trusted, respoected, and can even surf as they please. Additionally, there were many other panelists focused on such topics as: microfinance, industrialization in emerging markets, and branding green products. We aslo indulged in barbeque, live music, and had plenty of chaves to explore Nashville.

Malibu WallFlower Eco Organic Festival - Saturday, October 6, 2007
Malibu Community Impact!
10 NI volunteers participated in the first annual Malibu Chamber of Commerce - Zero Impact WallFlower Organic & Eco festival hosted by green man Ed Begley Jr.
From parking to selling ginger ale, our members helped plan, promote, set-up, and coordinate the event. Additionally, we promoted Pepperdine's sustainable efforts at our Net Impact booth.

Field Event — Crown Disposal Tour - Friday, September 14, 2007
20 members toured Pepperdine's wast hauler's refuse and recycle center located in Sun Valley, CA. Our behind the scenes view of the larget independent refuse, recycle, and green waste company consisted of a great company overview and an indepth tour of the facilities.

An Inconvenient Truth Movie Night — March 22, 2007

On Thursday, March 22, 2007, VCLL in conjunction with Net Impact presented a screening of "An Inconvenient Truth".

Visiting Toyota's LEED building — January 18, 2007

Kudos to the Professional Development Committee for doing a fantastic job with the Toyota Greening Tour on January 18th, 2007!

We went on the Toyota LEED-certified tour to learn about employment opportunities.

Net Impact National Conference — October 27-29, 2006, Chicago, Illinois

For those of you who were not able to make it to the Net Impact National Conference, this year’s event boasted over 1000 students, 300 professionals, and 250 speakers. Those companies offering keynote speakers included Accion, Deloitte & Touche, and Gap Inc., in addition to conference-favorite Andy Lock, Chief Administrative Officer for Herman Miller. The event took place at both Kellogg School of Management and Navy Pier in downtown Chicago.

Fall Mixer at Voda in Santa Monica — September 29, 2006Voda Mixer
Pepperdine hosted its first Net Impact event of the school year this on Friday, September 29th at Voda in Santa Monica, and as those of you who made it out already know, it was a huge success. We had over 70 RSVPs from a variety of local chapters, including Pepperdine, UCLA, USC, L.A. Professional, and O.C. Professional, and were also joined by a number of other CSR-minded area professionals. It made for a great kickoff to our program of events, not to mention a fun night out — don’t miss the next one!
